My Take
Tetsuya, born 30 October 1993 in Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture, is best known as the leader of the YouTube group Tokai OnAir, and he is also credited as a musician. A graduate of Nagoya University of Commerce and Business, he built something that runs against the usual Japanese entertainment logic: instead of relocating to Tokyo, he stayed in his hometown and made Okazaki itself the stage. For a country where creative careers have traditionally meant moving to the capital, that is a quietly radical choice, and it has given the work a texture that a studio in Tokyo could not replicate. What impresses me most is longevity. Online video is a format built on churn — audiences move on, formats exhaust themselves, and most creators peak and fade within a few years. Staying relevant across a full decade means constantly reinventing the format while keeping whatever made people show up in the first place. That is a harder job than it looks from the outside.
