Thom Evans

Thom Evans's story stays with me for its sharp turn of fortune. Born in Harare and capped ten times for Scotland, he saw his rugby career end at just 24 after a serious neck injury, an abrupt close to what could have been a long run on the wing. What I find genuinely admirable is what came next: rather than disappear, he rebuilt himself as a model and public figure. Athletes who lose their first dream so young rarely find a second act with such grace. To me, his resilience is the real headline, more compelling than any try he ever scored.
