My Take
Thomas Gabriel Fischer is, to me, one of extreme metal's true architects. With Hellhammer and Celtic Frost he helped invent a vocabulary of darkness that countless bands later borrowed, and the fact that he keeps creating through Triptykon proves he never coasted on legacy. What fascinates me is the contrast: this primal, subterranean sound emerging from orderly, quiet Switzerland. There's a strange elegance buried inside his bleakest riffs, an artist's eye behind the menace. I respect pioneers who refuse to soften with age, and Fischer remains stubbornly, admirably himself.
