Tinie Tempah

What draws me to Tinie Tempah isn't just the hits or the 2011 Brit Award. It's that, as a teenager in 2006, he co-founded his own company, Disturbing London, rather than simply renting his talent out to a label. A Plumstead kid who learned to be both the artist and the boss. That dual instinct, performing up front while running the business behind it, is exactly what tends to give a music career a long shelf life. I respect the strategist more than the star here. Plenty of rappers can spit a verse; far fewer build something they actually own.
