My Take
Tom Arnold is the kind of performer I find genuinely underrated. From Ottumwa, Iowa, he rose through Roseanne and stole scenes in True Lies as Schwarzenegger's wisecracking partner. The character actor who simply makes a room warmer is, in my view, harder to replace than any leading man, and Arnold mastered that. The 1993 GLAAD Vanguard Award also hints at a man with convictions beyond the laughs. There is something heartening to me about a small-town kid standing beside a giant star and holding his own through sheer comic timing and likability. That blend of grit and warmth is why he sticks with me.
