Toshinori Muto

Toshinori Muto is one of those quietly persistent pros who never really became a household name but kept grinding away on the Japan Golf Tour for years, and honestly that kind of career takes more guts than people give it credit for. Born in 1978 in Gunma, he grew up with a club in his hands at his mother's family's driving range and turned pro in 2001. At 173 cm he's not the longest hitter on any leaderboard, but golf has always rewarded the patient over the powerful, and there's something refreshing about a guy who seems to understand that. Seven Japan Golf Tour wins between 2006 and 2019 let the scorecard do the talking.
