Trine Dyrholm

Trine Dyrholm is the rare performer whose résumé reads like a masterclass in endurance. Winning the Bodil Award for Best Actress in 1991 and again in 2017 means she stayed at the summit of Danish cinema for over a quarter century, with a Silver Bear from Berlin along the way. What fascinates me is that she began as a teenage singer placing third at the Melodi Grand Prix, suggesting an artist wired for expression in any form. She never seems to chase spectacle; she simply delivers, film after film. For anyone exploring Nordic cinema, she is an essential name, and I hold her quiet excellence in high regard.
