Weruche Opia

Weruche Opia is one of those performers who makes an entire production feel more honest. Her work in I May Destroy You earned a BAFTA nomination for good reason: she conveys complicated, uncomfortable emotion without ever overplaying it. Born in Lagos and raised in London from the age of 13, she studied drama at the University of the West of England. What I find genuinely interesting is that she also founded and runs a clothing line, Jesus Junkie. Artists who understand both the creative and the commercial sides tend to last, and I'd happily watch whatever she chooses next.
