My Take
Will Gluck makes the kind of crowd-pleasing films I have a real soft spot for. From the wit of Easy A to the charm of Friends with Benefits, the warmth of the Peter Rabbit movies, and the sparkle of Anyone but You, he keeps delivering entertainment that leaves you lighter than you arrived. What impresses me is the contrast: a Cornell-educated New Yorker who chooses unpretentious popular fare and pulls it off without condescension. Writing, directing, and composing across his projects, he is genuinely versatile yet never showy about it. Filmmakers who reliably lift your mood are, I think, badly underrated.
