My Take
I'll be honest, I have a soft spot for wrestlers like Yota Tsuji, the Yokohama kid who came up through a hardcore sports university before stepping into a New Japan ring, because you can just feel the foundation in a guy who spent his whole youth grinding in the gym. Born in 1993, he spent a record stretch as a Young Lion, got shipped off for an overseas excursion to the UK and Mexico, bulked up, toughened his edges, and came back a totally different beast, and he is now IWGP Heavyweight Champion. I love that arc. Count me in as a fan of the slow-build guys.
