Yuta Tabuse

Yuta Tabuse means something special to anyone who follows Japanese basketball. Standing just 1.75 metres, he became the first Japanese-born player to appear in an NBA game, a feat that took far more than talent. Born in Yokohama, forged at Noshiro Technical, and willing to study in Hawaii to sharpen his game, he simply refused to accept the ceiling others set for him. Pioneers pay a price, and he paid it so that the next generation could dream bigger. I hold him in the highest regard, not just for the records but for the doors he opened.
