My Take
Zacky Vengeance is one of those rhythm guitarists who quietly holds a huge band together. As a founding member of Avenged Sevenfold out of Huntington Beach, he's been the engine room while flashier players get the spotlight, and I respect that role more than most fans do. Being voted Best Metal Guitarist in the World by Total Guitar in 2016, shared with Synyster Gates, tells me the craft community noticed the partnership that drives their sound. To me Avenged Sevenfold's longevity through lineup tragedy and constant reinvention says a lot about the people anchoring it, and he's clearly one of those anchors.
