Zentetsu Kanai

Honestly, Zentetsu Kanai's story is one of sheer nerve. Born in Osaka in 1980, he put university on hold and flew to New York alone in 2004 with no connections, worked his way up through street basketball, won an independent-league title with the Harrisburg Horizon, logged more than 350 games in New York's top street tournaments and became the first Japanese player at a Harlem Globetrotters camp. He then came home, played in the bj League, and built both an apparel brand and a basketball academy. That is a career built on results rather than reputation, and I respect it.
