Adam West

Adam West is a case study in aging gracefully into your own legend. From small-town Walla Walla he became the camp Batman of the 1960s, and rather than guard that image preciously, he spent his later years gleefully sending it up on Family Guy and The Simpsons. That willingness to laugh at his own myth is, to me, the mark of a genuinely secure performer. He earned his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a devoted fanbase that lasted until his death in 2017. West turned a single iconic role into a lifelong, self-aware act of charm. The best kind of beloved.
