My Take

Afrojack is the kind of artist I admire because he is both a star and a craftsman. Born Nick van de Wall in Spijkenisse, he built his own label in 2007 and became a perennial fixture near the top of DJ Mag's Top 100, which is no accident. His tracks have that distinctly clean, propulsive edge, precise yet built for the dancefloor, and his ear as a producer lets him transform other people's records too. Pulling off festival anthems while doing the unglamorous studio work behind the scenes is a real double act, and I genuinely enjoy it.
