My Take
Okay so Akiseyama Mitsuhiko is a sumo wrestler, which immediately earns a baseline level of respect from me — this is not a career you stumble into casually. Born in 1985 in Kasugai, Aichi, he came up through Nihon University, one of Japan's real sumo powerhouses, so this guy was committed to the sport long before anyone was watching. Almost too on-brand. The sumo world runs on a kind of brutal honesty I find genuinely admirable — your body is your résumé, every loss is public, and you still have to show up and slam into another enormous human being the next day. Wrestlers of his generation tend to let the dohyo do the talking, and his did: debut in 2008, a climb into the top division that peaked at maegashira 12 in 2021 — that tells you everything you need to know about his grit.
