My Take

I have a soft spot for Alan Ko. A Taiwanese-rooted singer and actor who also writes his own songs, he's the kind of multi-hyphenate who insists on building a complete artistic world rather than staying in one lane. Signed to Sony Music in Taiwan, he sings, acts and composes, which tells me he wants full ownership of his expression. The Chinese-language entertainment scene is fiercely deep and easy to get lost in, so sustaining a career across both music and screen takes real grit.
