My Take

What strikes me about Alesso is how thoroughly Swedish his story is, despite the Italian-sounding name. Born Alessandro Lindblad in Stockholm in 1991, he came up in the same scene that gave us Swedish House Mafia, and the collaboration list reads like a who's who of pop and dance: Calvin Harris, Katy Perry, OneRepublic, Hailee Steinfeld, David Guetta. I find that range telling. He isn't a niche festival DJ but a producer who slots comfortably into mainstream radio, which is probably why he's lasted. I'd love to know more about his studio process, but the credits speak for themselves.
