My Take

I'll be honest, Aljamain "Funk Master" Sterling is one of the most underrated grinders the UFC bantamweight scene has produced, and I love that his wrestling-heavy, scramble-everything style isn't always the prettiest to watch but it absolutely works. The Uniondale, New York kid out of Morrisville wrestling built a championship out of relentless pace and a genuinely nasty back-take game, and yeah, the DQ title win over Petr Yan was a weird, controversial way to first wear the belt, but the man went right back and proved it on his own terms in the rematch. What I respect most is how openly human he is online, funny, candid, never pretending to be a stoic killer. A real one.
