My Take
Alyson Hannigan is, to me, the gold standard of the actor who makes everyone around her better. Willow on Buffy remains one of television's great character arcs, from stammering wallflower to the show's emotional core, and Hannigan sold every step of it. She then pivoted to broad comedy in American Pie and How I Met Your Mother without losing that essential warmth. Her timing is so unshowy that it is easy to miss how precise it is. She has never needed to dominate a scene to define it, and that generous, durable craft ages far better than flash. I trust her completely on screen.
