Ana Alicia

What I love about Ana Alicia is the contrast she embodies. A Mexico City-born scholarship student at Wellesley College, she spent seven seasons as the scheming vineyard heiress Melissa Agretti on Falcon Crest, and there is a special pleasure in watching a genuine intellectual inhabit a deliciously conniving villain. She built her footing on Ryan's Hope before earning international recognition, marking her as a real craftsman rather than a fluke. Though long retired, that calculating gaze lingers in my memory, and making audiences adore a character they should despise is no small feat.
