My Take
Andrew Cuomo fascinates me as a study in political durability and its costs. Born into the Queens dynasty of Mario Cuomo, he governed New York for a decade, reached a peak of national visibility, and then fell about as far and as fast as a modern politician can, resigning in 2021 amid misconduct allegations. What strikes me is that he simply refused to exit the stage, resurfacing as an independent candidate for mayor of New York City in 2025. I cannot fully admire him, but I cannot look away either; he embodies the raw, unsentimental machinery of American politics better than almost anyone.
