Andy Biggs

Biggs strikes me as the model of a methodical political climber: Tucson roots, the University of Arizona, a law career, then a steady ascent from the state House to Senate president and on to Congress. I find that kind of patient, ground-up trajectory more telling than any single headline. Whatever one makes of his hard-line reputation within the Republican Party, there is a consistency to him that earns either loyalty or opposition rather than indifference. My interest lies in how thoroughly his career stayed rooted in Arizona, from the state House to the state Senate presidency and on to Congress.
