Axel Kicillof

Axel Kicillof intrigues me precisely because he is divisive. A University of Buenos Aires economist who became Argentina's economy minister under Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, then governor of Buenos Aires Province, he is a Peronist intellectual willing to dive into the brutal arithmetic of Argentine economics. Whatever you make of his politics, defending an economic vision amid that country's chronic inflation and currency turmoil takes real nerve. I appreciate a politician who argues from theory and stays in the line of fire. He is a combative, idea-driven figure, and that makes him genuinely worth watching.
