My Take
Beth Behrs impresses me as a performer who is far more grounded than her bubbliest roles suggest. UCLA-trained and Pennsylvania-raised, she carried Caroline Channing through six seasons of 2 Broke Girls with a lightness that looks effortless but never is. The fact that she also writes and does voice work tells me she takes the craft seriously beyond the laugh track. I have a soft spot for comedic actors who quietly accumulate skills while the audience only sees the punchlines. Behrs strikes me as exactly that kind of diligent talent, and I suspect her best, most varied work is still ahead of her.
