My Take

Billy Unger interests me less as a Disney XD star and more as a case study in reinvention. Rebranding from Billy Unger to William Brent after Lab Rats was a deliberate shedding of the child-actor skin, and reaching toward music and directing shows someone unwilling to be defined by his teenage roles. Plenty of child stars cling to past fame; he seems to have chosen evolution instead. Whether he fully returns to acting or not, I read his so-called retirement as a pause rather than an ending, and that self-awareness earns my quiet admiration.
