Caro Emerald is, for me, one of pop's smartest time-travelers. A Dutch artist who sings in English and resurrects 1940s swing without ever sounding like a museum piece, she made retro feel genuinely current. Back It Up lit the fuse, and A Night Like This topping charts across countries proved it was no novelty. The Silver Harp and Edison recognition back home confirm the craft.
