My Take
Cecilia Suárez is the rare performer whose voice is instantly recognizable, and The House of Flowers made that deadpan cadence iconic. But what truly draws my respect is how she uses her platform: campaigning with the United Nations and the European Union against femicide and violence against women. Plenty of stars lend their names to causes; few sound as committed as she does. Add a career that crosses the United States, Mexico and Spain across film, television and theater, and you get an actress of real range and conviction. She strikes me as someone using fame for something larger than herself.
