My Take
Charly García is, plainly, a titan of Argentine rock, and I don't use that word lightly. Composer, singer, pianist, even painter, he carried Latin American music on his shoulders for decades and collected a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award along the way. What I admire most is the rebellious melancholy threaded through his melodies, that distinctly South American mix of defiance and ache. He deserves far more recognition outside the Spanish-speaking world. Once his songs get under your skin, there's no shaking them. I happily call him a master.
