My Take

I find Cheer Chen quietly fascinating. A Taipei native who finished at National Chengchi University before committing to music, she carries the air of an artist who thinks before she sings. As a singer-songwriter who plays piano, she controls both melody and message herself, which to me explains her unmistakable intimacy. The fact that Sofa Sea (2018) remains her latest suggests a deliberate, unhurried maker rather than a content machine. I respect that restraint.
