Chrissy Metz

What draws me to Chrissy Metz is her refusal to hide vulnerability. Her turn as Kate on This Is Us, which earned Emmy and Golden Globe attention, worked because she brought a lived-in, unvarnished humanity to the role rather than a glossy performance. She sings, too, and she contains more than the screen always shows. I have deep respect for actors who can put real, unflattering emotion in front of a camera, and she does it with warmth and conviction.
