My Take

Chuck Daly belongs, in my view, among the finest coaches the game ever produced. Back-to-back NBA titles with Detroit's Bad Boys was already a masterclass in molding a hard-nosed identity, but steering the 1992 Dream Team to gold was a different kind of genius entirely: managing the egos of the greatest roster ever assembled requires more diplomacy than X's and O's. That a man from small-town Pennsylvania could command that room tells you everything about his presence. His FIBA Hall of Fame induction is fitting. I think of him as proof that great leadership is mostly about people, not plays.
