Costas Mandylor

Costas Mandylor is a character actor I have real affection for, especially as a horror fan. A Greek-Australian born in Melbourne, he came to acting from an unusual place, professional football, which gives his physical presence a grounded edge. He broke through in Mobsters in 1991, but it is his turn as Detective Hoffman in the Saw franchise that cemented his cult status. That cold, brooding intensity makes him a natural villain, and few actors wear menace as comfortably. I always feel a chill watching him work, and I think that quiet, unsettling charisma is a genuinely underrated gift.
