Daisuke Kishio

Daisuke Kishio, born March 28, 1974 in Matsusaka, Mie Prefecture, works as a voice actor, singer, and narrator, and has since joined Aoni Production in April 2014. The detail I keep coming back to is a small one. The pronunciation didn't change. The romanization didn't change. Nothing about how anyone says his name changed at all. Only the shape of it on the page did, from angular characters to soft rounded ones. For English readers that distinction is invisible, which is exactly why it's worth pointing out: Japanese gives you a way to adjust the texture of a name without touching its sound, and he cared enough to actually go through with it. That instinct fits the job. Voice work is an industry where careers are short and turnover is brutal, and staying in the front rank for decades takes more than a good voice. It takes attention to things nobody else would bother changing.
