My Take
Dan Trachtenberg is one of the directors I trust most without reservation. Announcing yourself with 10 Cloverfield Lane, a claustrophobic chamber thriller that earned a Directors Guild nomination, is no small feat for a first feature. What I admire is his restraint: he builds dread through confinement and character rather than spectacle, tightening the screws until you forget to breathe. His podcasting roots mark him as a genuine film obsessive, someone who loves the craft as much as the result. That blend of intellect and tension makes me eager for whatever he does next.
