Dave Aranda

Dave Aranda fascinates me because defensive coordinators are the unsung intellectuals of American football, and he is among the most cerebral of them all. Climbing through LSU, Wisconsin, and Utah State before landing the Baylor head job in 2020, he built his reputation on out-thinking offenses rather than out-shouting them. I have a soft spot for quiet tacticians who win with preparation and pattern recognition, and Aranda strikes me as exactly that kind of mind. Whether his stillness translates into sustained head-coaching success is the open question I find most interesting about his career.
