My Take

I like that David Burtka refuses to be boxed into one lane. He trained as an actor at the University of Michigan and even picked up a Clarence Derwent Award for his stage work, yet he's just as known these days as a chef. That pivot from theater to the kitchen feels genuine to me rather than a celebrity vanity project. The Dearborn, Michigan roots give him a grounded, Midwestern quality that I think suits the down-to-earth food world.
