My Take

David Castañeda is one of those actors who walked onto a big stage and immediately felt like he belonged there — and The Umbrella Academy is the proof. As Diego Hargreeves, he plays this knife-throwing, emotionally tangled anti-hero with a physicality and wounded intensity that could easily tip into parody but never does. He keeps it grounded and genuinely compelling across all three seasons. Born and raised in LA, trained at Cal State Fullerton, he worked his way up through smaller roles before Netflix handed him this breakout moment in 2019, and he made the absolute most of it. There's a real swagger to him on screen that feels earned rather than performed, and I think he's one of the more underrated ensemble players of his generation.
