My Take
Denise Crosby will always be Tasha Yar to me, but what I find most compelling is her relationship with fandom itself. A Hollywood-born actor who left Star Trek early, only to return as Yar's half-Romulan daughter Sela, she turned an abrupt exit into a richer arc. Then she went further, producing Trekkies, a documentary that celebrated rather than mocked the fans who adored the franchise. That gesture tells me a lot about her warmth and self-awareness. I respect performers who step to the audience's side of the camera, and her affectionate curiosity about the communities her work created is genuinely rare.
