My Take
Wade is my favorite kind of superstar: one who built greatness out of angles and timing rather than sheer size. At 193 cm he was never the biggest man on an NBA floor, yet his 2006 Finals run remains one of the most fearless individual performances I have ever watched. What impresses me even more is the second act — sliding from the court into commentary and part-ownership of the Utah Jazz with the same composure he showed in crunch time. The Chicago kid who came up through Marquette never stopped reading the game; he simply changed seats. That adaptability is the real signature of his career.
