My Take

Ego Nwodim is the reason I lean toward the screen when Saturday Night Live cuts to her. A USC graduate from Baltimore with Nigerian roots, she is plenty sharp, yet she throws her whole body into the silliest sketches without an ounce of vanity. Surviving SNL from 2018 all the way to its fiftieth season is no small feat; that stage chews up funnier resumes than most. The mix of intelligence and fearless physical comedy she brings is the real deal. My bet is that she graduates into leading film roles, and Hollywood will wonder why it waited.
