My Take

Emily Berrington is a quietly formidable actor. Oxford-born and trained at King's College London, she broke through internationally as Simone in 24: Live Another Day and then truly arrested me as the synth Niska in Humans. What impresses me is her gift for making emotionally illegible characters feel disturbingly alive, that flicker of something behind a cold gaze. She moves easily between stage and screen and clearly isn't chasing flash. She's a connoisseur's actor, the kind whose reputation builds slowly and deservedly. I think her best work is still ahead of her, and I'll be watching.
