Curtis Hughes, better known as Mr. Hughes, embodies the kind of dependable heel that holds pro wrestling together. Born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1964 and a Kansas State University alum, he worked across WCW, the WWF, AWA, AWF, and ECW, and that promotion-hopping resume tells me he was a reliable hand wherever he went. The suited, sunglasses-wearing enforcer persona is built on presence as much as size, the type who can quiet a crowd just by walking out. I have always respected the supporting villains who give the heroes something to push against. Hughes strikes me as one of those steady professionals.
