Eric Lu

Eric Lu fascinates me because his achievement is quietly historic. Winning both the 2025 Chopin Competition in Warsaw and the 2018 Leeds places him alongside only Radu Lupu as a pianist to claim two of the four great prizes. Born in 1997, he is still young, yet his playing reportedly favors inwardness over flash, which is exactly the temperament Chopin rewards. I admire artists who convince the world through restraint rather than spectacle. Watching how his interpretive depth matures over the next decade is, for me, one of the more exciting prospects in classical music.
