My Take
Ten Hag interests me precisely because he was never the flashy player. A centre-back from the small Dutch town of Haaksbergen, he made his name as a tactician rather than a star, and his Ajax sides played some of the most coherent attacking football in Europe. He is the classic case of a journeyman defender who out-thinks the room once he steps onto the touchline. Management is a brutal, results-driven trade that swings between glory and dismissal, yet his return to hometown club Twente in a director's role hints at a man whose roots still matter to him. I respect that methodical stubbornness.
