My Take

I'll be honest, I've always had a soft spot for athletes who can light up a screen the way Miwa Asao does. Picture it: a tall, easy-smiling kid out of Suzuka in Mie, diving around in the sand and somehow making beach volleyball look glamorous enough that people started calling her the sport's "fairy." But what gets me isn't the looks everyone fixated on, it's the nerve. Pivoting from competitive beach volleyball to a full-on TV career takes guts most people don't have, and she made the jump look effortless. There's a steadiness underneath the sparkle, a sense that she sets her own pace and just keeps going. I find that genuinely likable, the kind of person you root for without quite knowing why.
