Fala Chen

Fala Chen is a fascinating case of brains meeting glamour. Born in Fenghua and educated at Emory and Juilliard, she paired beauty-pageant success with genuine intellect before rising through Hong Kong television in hits like Heart of Greed and Moonlight Resonance. A singer and actress who made her United States debut in an HBO series after Juilliard, she clearly refuses to be boxed in. Moving between East and West, she strikes me as an artist who competes on intelligence as much as charm, and I respect that versatility.
