My Take
Flex earns my respect as a genuine pioneer of Panamanian reggaeton. Winning the 2008 Latin Grammy for Best Urban Song was no fluke; it marked a Central American voice breaking through on the global stage. What impresses me more is his self-awareness, dropping the controversial Nigga moniker before his US debut and adjusting his lyrics to fit a wider, more conscious era. Artists who can evolve instead of clinging to a hit tend to last.
