My Take

What draws me to de Anda is the second act. Plenty of footballers fade after their boots come off, but he reinvented himself as an analyst for ESPN Deportes, turning instinct into language for a whole audience. That transition demands a different kind of intelligence, the ability to articulate what you once did by feel. At 187 cm and born in Mexico City, he clearly had the physical tools, but I find his post-playing relevance more compelling. He has become a kind of narrator of Mexican football, and that longevity of influence quietly earns my respect more than any single match ever could.
