My Take

Garrett Clayton arrived as the bright, easy charm of Disney's Teen Beach Movie, but I think there is more substance there than the heartthrob label suggests. Acting, singing, and dancing, he is a genuine triple threat, and he has worked steadily across film, television, and stage rather than coasting on one breakout role. Coming out of Dearborn, Michigan, he built his career the working way. Performers with that kind of versatility tend to outlast trends, and I would happily watch him take on grittier, more mature parts. For now he remains a warm emblem of a certain bright, optimistic era.
